Our Sunday night small group has our very own Science Guy!

Michael, a high school physics teacher, had some liquid nitrogen leftover from an experiment day at school. How often does someone call you and say they have some liquid nitrogen and would it be ok to bring a snack for the meeting? Not very often, I bet!

Michael is assisted by his lovely wife Kelly, who has the good sense to keep her distance.

Everybody oohs and aahs form a respectful distance as the liquid nitrogen is poured into the cup.

Michael dips a graham cracker in the nitrogen, eats it, and

Voila! He has that fire-breathing dragon look!

Next, he pours nitrogen over a balloon

and we watch it shrivel up as the air inside is cooled to a liquid

and then it expands again as the air warms up.

Last of all, Michael pours nitrogen over strawberries and grapes.

There's nothing quite like grapes that have been frozen so quickly with liquid nitrogen! They're sweeter than grapes from your freezer.
