What's the deal with the blurring line?

Sometimes, what I read seems so real that I'm not always sure it didn't really happen!
For example, I am quite certain that Marcellus really never was the same after The Robe.

My Garden

My garden is a bit of a jungle.  Kind of reminds me of "The Secret Garden."  Still, even though they cry for more TLC, the flowers are pretty, and I enjoy their silent, friendly greetings each day.

Spring!

I love forget-me-nots!

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

There can be no doubt. . . .

I think it may be true; spring is sweeter to those who have endured a long, bleak winter. I always have liked morning and the feeling of a fresh start. I guess spring is just a more comprehensive morning. All creation seems to be waking. The grass is definitely green, and today, I saw a bit of green on the tops of some of the trees.

The Garden

Well, here's another butterfly. This one appears to be slightly injured. But he hasn't lost his taste for butterfly bush nectar! This is the front yard garden. I rather like the purple flowers on the right.

Garden Update

More daffodils! Sure wish I knew what this is called! The violets, untended, unloved, come up anyway. I feel a little mean, not liking them! But they definitely would like to take over!My very favorite, the forget-me-nots. These surprised me in my front garden. I don't remember planting any there, but I can see them from the kitchen table, and it gives me great pleasure. (How could I forget if I planted forget-me-nots????)

Early Garden

The daffodils survived! (Well, at least some of them did!) I love perennials - so effortless, and I get these pretty little white flowers. A hyacinth Not all the hyacinths made it. This is called pulmonaria. I have no idea why. Sounds like a lung plant.

Spring

For years, I have gazed with admiration at all the daffodils in the spring around here. Such happy, bright colors! Finally, I remembered at the right time, and last fall, I planted about 40 bulbs in my front yard. I smiled as I imagined the bright yellows in the spring, when everything else is still brown around here.

Only a week or two ago, the first ones opened. Forty was not enough! I loved them!

But alas, winter had to have one last stand here, and it is too cold and can't seem to warm up. I hope they don't all die!

How does my garden grow?

Let the record show

Let the record show that I do not fierecely hate all flying insects. Yesterday, there were bees quietly pollinating the flowers in my garden, minding their own business, staying out of houses, not moving unexpectedly in my direction. The bees are a little fearsome because of the large black abdomen(is that whole thing a stinger?), but they seemed intent on the flowers.

The wasps, however, are always making sudden turns in their hovering. They seem just as interested in going in the house. They build nests in grills and right by doors. Besides, in all the stories, aren't the bees good guys? Whoever heard of a good wasp? Well, maybe there were the ones in AntZ, but that was intended to be fantasy, not reality.
