What's the deal with the blurring line?

Sometimes, what I read seems so real that I'm not always sure it didn't really happen!
For example, I am quite certain that Marcellus really never was the same after The Robe.

Eagle Cam

Check out the baby eagles on the Bald Eagle Cam. It only works in the daytime. The eagle nest is in Norfolk, Virginia, 90 feet up in a tree. It weighs between 600 and 800 pounds, and is 8 feet in diameter! There are 3 eaglets there. I think they are just learning to fly. Once I saw Mom or Dad there with them. The white head & tail feathers do not appear until eagles are 4 or 5 years old. Don't you think it's fascinating?

New Shoes

The owner of these shoes calls them "Spiderman Shoes." I call them "Bee Shoes." Now I don't claim that bees wear shoes, only that IF they did, they'd certainly want shoes like these so as to match their little bodies.

What say you? Spiderman Shoes or Bee Shoes????

The Hope Years

"After 42 years, we are closing our doors. We have loved being part of your lives." Except that it was only 8. We are thankful for the part Hope has played in our lives, and in the lives of our children and sons-in-law. Click here for a review.

Laura's place

Here is Laura's new lodging for summer. A very nice house with 5 decent sized bedrooms(bigger than our tiny bedroom at home!) Four are in the basement, but it's only half underground, so there are still windows.

Mother's Day

I do wish that my mother could still "fuss and worry over every little thing!" So, in honor of her, I shall fuss and worry double time, and enjoy every minute of it! Here's to my mom, and to those three who made me a mom, adding such richness to my journey of life!

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie. ~Tenneva Jordan

The Dutch are tall

Did you know that the Dutch are the tallest people in the world? The average Dutch man is 6'1". You can read about it here. And the Dutch are taller than they used to be. These days, the minimum height requirement for doors is seven feet! They say all this height is a result of good nutrition and good health care. I found some other reasons more interesting.
Climate change. When those dykes give way before the rising seas, much of the Netherlands will be under six feet one inch of water. Logically, only those Dutch people who are six foot two or more will be able to survive and start the long, backbreaking process of rebuilding the flood defences and baling out the country with bucket chains.

The Dutch government, under direct orders from Her Netherlandic Majesty, have been embarking on a massive programme of eugenics. Short Dutch children are expelled into Belgium, to be replaced by tall kidnapped Danes. The plan is to raise the average height to six foot five by 2050. Thirty years into the plan, the Dutch are already the tallest nation in Europe.

02 03 04 05 06 07

I do so like it when things line up. What's wrong with me anyway? Tomorrow, at 2:03 04 AM it will be 02 03 04 05 06 07. Clearly not as impressive as June 8, 1990, when it was 12:34:56 on 7/8/90. Though I don't plan to be awake for the unique moment, it does make me smile. You can read more about it here if you are so inclined.

On Women and Their Relationships with Insects

I read this on Observations of a Middle Aged Woman. This lady is hilarious!
. . .Just as women have a special, fond relationship with anything on four legs (excepting pigs and goats, in most cases), we have a very wary, live-and-let-live-as-long-as-you-don't-come-anywhere-near-me relationship with the multi-legged.

I don't consider myself to be at all squeamish. . . .But before anything that is Bigger Than It Ought To Be, or anything that moves faster than it has the right to, I am reduced to a helpless, screaming ninny.
Read the whole article here. The one that really had me laughing out loud was On Menapause Day, which is really all about her memories of the joys of womanhood, from young teen on up. This lady has got a great sense of humor!

Here are the tulips that have already bloomed. . . more to come!
