What's the deal with the blurring line?

Sometimes, what I read seems so real that I'm not always sure it didn't really happen!
For example, I am quite certain that Marcellus really never was the same after The Robe.

The Rectangle

Can anyone else out there make this face? All attempts I have seen fall far short.

Marathon Medal

Check out that really cool medal! Next on the agenda, you ask? How about the Boston Marathon 2008? Here is Craig's Crew, also known as the 1094s. We chased him all day long! Being a spectator requires lots of walking and train rides!

Roommate Reunion

Got to go to Waco to meet some old roommates this week. It turned out to be Homecoming, my first Homecoming since I graduated, hmm, how many years ago?

I met Linda, Dorian, and Nancy at the Judge Baylor House right by the campus. We went to Pigskin Revue, wandered around campus, visited the Dr Pepper Museum, and just enjoyed catching up. Judge Baylor House - a wonderful B&B!

My friends in Austin

These are a few of my roommates here. There are 7 of them. To my surprise, I found I was able to sleep in the same room with them. I think it helps that they are not up on the wall staring at me. Instead they are gathered around the room, most likely guarding me. Below, you can see the new house here. Very nice, I think.

Marathon

To the left, you can see the official 2006 Chicago Marathon t-shirt.

Here is the Link for Spectators. The number to watch is 1094, or just look for those smashing tights!

Monarchs!

I never thought about meeting monarchs here in Austin, but apparently, they fly right over this area in their fall migration. They seem to like the little creek behind the house. The first night, I'm sure I saw 100 of them down there! But it was muddy and I did not go too close. It was cool to see them hanging on the trees resting, undoubtedly talking about the miles they had covered that day, and wondering how much further it was to Mexico.

News Flash

CB has decided to name his little car, Tonka Junior, but you may call him Junior for short. The other names just didn't stick, thus the new one.

I found this book in the "give away" pile!

Belinda lived in a little white house,
With a little black kitten and a little gray mouse,
And a little yellow dog and a little red wagon,
And a realio, trulio, little pet dragon.
Now the name of the little black kitten was Ink,
And the little gray mouse, she called her Blink,
And the little yellow dog was sharp as Mustard,
But the dragon was a coward, and she called him Custard.

Custard the dragon had big sharp teeth,
And spikes on top of him and scales underneath,
Mouth like a fireplace, chimney for a nose,
And realio, trulio, daggers on his toes.

Belinda was as brave as a barrel full of bears,
And Ink and Blink chased lions down the stairs,
Mustard was as brave as a tiger in a rage,
But Custard cried for a nice safe cage.

(This is only part of the poem by Ogden Nash.)

True grandparenthood achieved!

Now there is a crib and a rocker. We feel official!

The last chapter

As a fitting conclusion to the saga of the sun events on lakes, may I submit to you, this photograph of the original non-Sheboyganite photographer gazing at the beauty of the lake. This is indeed, the one whose photographs sparked such vigorous debate on this blog in recent weeks.

Just in case you were wondering. . .

The monarchs were flying over Oklahoma City this week . . . I don't remember ever seeing this many at once, but it was cool to watch them go by on their way to Mexico. Maybe someday, I can see the monarchs roosting in Mexico or California. (Put it on the list!)

Are you a paraskevidekatriaphobic?

This is not a good day for paraskevidekatriaphobics -- those who fear Friday the 13th. It's double-13 Friday. All the numbers in the numerical notation -- 10/13/2006 -- add up to 13 as well, giving great pause to the superstitious.
Just read this interesting article on The Point. The blogger reminds us of the quote
"The first effect of not believing in God is to believe in anything."
An interesting thought, but I also found paraskevidekatriaphobics an interesting idea, just because I like numbers and patterns. Remember 1991 was the Year of the Palindrome? You do remember palindromes, don't you? Can you figure these out? (Find the answers at this site.)
