What's the deal with the blurring line?

Sometimes, what I read seems so real that I'm not always sure it didn't really happen!
For example, I am quite certain that Marcellus really never was the same after The Robe.

Baby elephants

These are pictures of baby elephants in the womb, at 4 months and at 12 months. They have been photographed throughout the 22 month pregnancy (wow! We humans should stop complaining!) It's all the subject of a new National Geographic special, Animals in the Womb. Read more about it here.

ummm... i'm a little grossed out. particularly by the pink one. something about it is just frightening.
