What's the deal with the blurring line?

Sometimes, what I read seems so real that I'm not always sure it didn't really happen!
For example, I am quite certain that Marcellus really never was the same after The Robe.

Boston 7 - The Boston Tourist

I forgot to mention one thing about Saturday morning. We were getting ready to go out for our tourist day. The train takes you downtown, but we would need to get to the station by taxi or bus. So we thought we'd save $10 taxi fare, and walk down to the bus stop (about 1/2 mile) and our Charlie card for the train works for the bus too.

As we began our journey down the hill to the bus stop, we had to pass another hotel. We stared enviously at their shuttle bus out front. Could it be that they had vacancies on the weekend before the marathon? Naw. . . not possible. . .

But we checked anyway. And what do you know? They had a room! Yes, it cost more than our current arrangement, but there would be no more buses or taxi fares! The shuttle will take us to the train station any time all day long!

And best of all, they have a 430am shuttle Monday morning to get all those runners to the train so they can get to the place to catch the bus to Hopkinton to the start of the race.

So for the next hour, we were packing up at one hotel and dragging our stuff across the lot to another hotel. We got all settled, and then happily took the shuttle to the train station.

You might think that some parts of our trip were not as well planned as they perhaps should have been. But then, life's an adventure, is it not?
